The Using ICEfaces with JBoss Seam topic in the ICEfaces Knowledge Base contains important information regarding configuring your Seam application to work with ICEfaces, techniques for successful use of ICEfaces components with Seam, etc..

The ICEfaces-Seam Component Showcase project provides a working application that illustrates using virtually all the ICEfaces Component Suite components working successfully in a Seam application, including source-code.

The ICEfaces SeamGen project provides a SeamGen tool for rapidly generating new Seam projects with ICEfaces integration to provide Seam developers a head-start in generating new ICEfaces + Seam applications that work out-of-the-box.

The ICEfaces JBoss Seam Integration forum provides a place to discuss problems, solutions, and share tips and techniques with others using ICEfaces with Seam.

A new bundle for seam-gen has been made available to download at icefaces.org

Seam-2.0.0.CR1 has been released and the seam-gen included in this release includes the option to use ICEfaces.

Things to note:-

ICEfaces-1.6.1 is required for this release

icefaces-seam-gen is required for Seam1.2.1.GA and jsf1.1 implementation

It looks like our icefaces-booking example was not included in the CR1 seam release of Sept 18th, 2007.

To see this example, please download the following

icefaces-booking for CR1 and put it in /examples/icefaces subdirectory for this jboss-seam release.

Copy the icefaces*.jars, backport-util.jar, commons-fileupload.jar into jboss-seam-2.0.0.CR1\lib

modify the /examples/build.xml using the directions in /examples/icefaces/readme-Icefaces.txt

We are hoping to have this included in the next seam release

Just a note for those unaware of what has been happening with Seam-ICEfaces integration:-

Since jboss-seam-2.0.0.GA release, seam-gen now incorporates an ICEfaces option. In this release, an ICEfaces home directory can be specified to trigger the script to create a seam-ICEfaces application generation.

For the jboss-seam-2.0.0.CR2 and forward releases, the current default is the ICEfaces release 1.6.1 (on the Maven2 repository of JBoss-seam) if you specify "y" in the use ICEfaces instead of Richfaces prompt of <seam setup>. If you want a release other than ICEfaces 1.6.1 there is a prompt to follow that one where you specify the home directory of your non-1.6.1 release of ICEfaces.

The examples directory of the seam releases also carry a working icefaces (the booking application). On our own download page we have the icefaces-seam-gen for Seam-1.2.1.GA as well as an EAR deployment application of seam-comp-showcase for ICEfaces-1.6.1.

Soon to come....the WAR deployment of seam-comp-showcase which uses only POJO's and can be deployed to non-container j5ee servers. This will include all the latest components like tooltip, google maps interface, context menu, etc.

Seam mail and pdf still are in the "to be done" category with open jiras (not a lot of votes on these).

Is there any time frame for the 1.7.0 stable release?
