Hello Everyone,

We've had a few inquiries into supporting Portlets and are wondering if Portlets are on anybody else's radar. Is anyone else out there using Portlets, and if so, what implementations have you evaluated or have decided on? Tell us your thoughts.

Thanks,
Philip

Yes, I would like to use ICEfaces with portlets.

I see that Preliminary Portal support has been achieved in version 1.5.

Can someone make available a Hello World JSR 168 ice face ?

Hi,
I'm trying to use Liferay portlet framework with icefaces 1.5.0, but no luck as of now. I think components are not completely support Portlets? Is that true?

Hi Satya,

There's preliminary support for portals in ICEfaces 1.5. I'm not sure about how well it will work with Liferay as I don't think that's been tested yet. But a few configuration details that might help you:

1) for tomcat set emptySessionPath="true" so that the portlet can share the session with its BlockingServlet http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/config/http.html

2) configure WEB-INF/portlet.xml so that PersitentFacesPortlet is used

Some things that I believe are still to be resolved:

- navigation is not working within portlets
- "connection lost" cannot put a modal barrier over the whole page as there are multiple portlets on that page

Thanks,
Philip

Yes we do ;) Currently we've Liferay 4.0.2 running nicely with Seam/MyFaces/Facelets and we're trying to figure how to use Icefaces also.

Yes, we'd also like to have portlet support! One of our requirements in choosing a framework was that we could have the ability to create portlets in the near future.

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the feedback. Have you guys chosen any Portal framework yet?

Hi,

Actually, that's a loaded question right now. I'm looking at either a custom and extremely lightweight solution with very limited functionality versus a full BEA portal solution. At least that's my understanding right now.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried using the jsf portlet bridge with ICEfaces?

Thanks

Yes we would like to use icefaces with jboss-portal. However we can not do that as long as the navigation is not working. What is your timeframe for the portlet navigation/pageflow?
