Hello
It seems you're a bit behind schedule regarding Icefaces2.0 Alpha 3 and Icefaces2.0 Beta.
Is Icefaces 2.0 Final still planned for June ?
Thanks
Fred

Hi,
As you've noted, we are late on our planned release for ICEfaces 2.0 - Alpha3. Unfortunately, we've had to spend a considerable amount of time trying to resolve within ICEfaces some issues with the Mojarra JSF 2.0.2 release that were affecting some fairly basic functionality, such as navigation. We originally expected these issues to be resolved by the Mojarra 2.0.3 release, but it was pushed back by Oracle to mid-June, well outside of the Alpha3 release window.
The current outlook is that ICEfaces 2.0 Alpha3 should ship before the end of May, and ICEfaces 2.0 Beta is likely to follow the Mojarra JSF 2.0.3 release by a couple of weeks, so late Juneish. ICEfaces 2.0 final will depend on how things are looking with the Beta, but sometime in August seems likely.
I know these delays are an inconvenience, but there are a lot of variables in play for ICEfaces 2.0, and not all of them under our control. Our focus remains to make ICEfaces 2.0 as good as it can be and to do it "right" the first time so we have a solid foundation to move forward with.
We appreciate your patience and support as we move forward!
Regards,
Ken

Hi,
Is there a chance that you release Icefaces 2 -final- during this year's JavaOne ?

Any updates on when 2.0 final may appear? I've been very anxious to upgrade to 2.0 but my project is heavily dependent on the upload component, which as I understand it, will only be available in final. I haven't seen any updates in months.

Hi,
Sorry for the lack of communication on this lately. We're heads down getting the ICEfaces 2.0.0 Beta2 release out. Hoping to have it out by the end of next week. This release will include a new fileEntry component.
ICEfaces 2.0.0 final is still planned for end of November.
Regards,
Ken

Great news.
But what about the ICEfaces EE ? Can we expect getting the updated "composite components" to be able to use them also with JSF-2 and NetBeans 6.9.X?

Hi,
I tried looking for the fileEntry in svn icefaces2 trunk but didn't see it. Did I look in the wrong place or isn't it committed any any form currently?

Are we still on target to see beta 2 this week?
Thanks!

Let's see. Some sparkle stuff has been moved to trunk. The big "slip" button hasn't been pressed yet on the remaining issues. My uneducated guess would be... after one week ;-)

Hi, yes, the plan is to ship ICEfaces EE 2.0.0 Beta in December that will include the ICEfaces EE Composite Components running on ICEfaces 2 / JSF 2.
If you have more specific questions, etc. about this please contact ICEsoft Support.

Hello Ken,
How is it that the primefaces guys figured it out faster that Icesoft? They've had a JSF 2.0/JEE6 production release for a long time now, and excellent integration with Glassfish. This is very disappointing.

It's hard to compare - I'm sure ICE could have had a quick-n-dirty migration much sooner but it appears they have done rewrites that hopefully will pay back in the end. I for one am grateful for their hard work.
