it seems to me that lately news, announcements and upgrades have slowed down consideranbly.
For example, the question about the woodstock-like theme remains unanswered for weeks...
I hope we don't need to switch to another framework after the woodstock death.
Has this something to do with Sun's acquisition by Oracle?
please answer
thanks
Mauro

Could be ICEfaces 2.0 gearing up. It will be JSF 2.0 compliant and I believe they're going to be switching to jQuery (don't quote me).

Hi,
Well, we just shipped ICEfaces 1.8 in early April, which was a significant release. Since then we've added updated IDE tool integrations for NetBeans 6.7 Beta and RAD 7.5 last week (in addition to launching ICEpdf.org), and ICEfaces 1.8.1 is well on it's way for release in the next 5-10 days. So it sure doesn't feel like anything has slowed down. :)
We are also working quietly on ICEfaces 2.0 prototyping, architecture, and components. We're not really ready to talk much about that yet but rest assured the team is spending as many cycles as we can spare on it.
In terms of the Woodstock migration activities we have been channeling most of our resourcing effort into the NetBeans tooling support, including NetBeans 6.7. There is obviously some uncertainty introduced by the Oracle acquisition of Sun, so we have had to make adjustments to some of our priorities in response while we wait to see how things will unfold in terms of future support by Oracle for Sun products, etc. We would very much like to deliver a Woodstock look-alike theme for ICEfaces, but at this point we would need commercial customers requesting this in order for us to justify raising its priority over other activities we are involved in.
Regards,
Ken

Seems to me that releases have been pretty frequent, compared to other component suites some of which have been kind of stagnet.
Icepdf was just released too.
Really cool, is there is a lot more 3rd party development. ie. snappy datatable.
And we www.mooncatventures.com are about to release no less than 4 new components based on icefaces . We just needed to finalize our packaging model. Now that we figured out the best way to deploy them in a single jar that can be included with your apps and not require any customization to icefaces-comp.jar, we are almost ready for ga.
Here's a partial list.
1) iphone style navigation (works with spring webflow 2)
2) Image component based on yui carusel , both Iphone and standalone versions.
3) Iphone circular image component built with dashcode.
4) Data source components (produces json data lists ) that can feed other components.
Also planned
1) captcha componenent based on primefaces component
2) native object-c interface to icefaces backend server
In additional we are looking at a few components icefaces seemed to have abandoned.
1) A real rico style accordian component with webkit animations
2) a Slider component
The first of these components, the iphone navigator and yui carusole may be release as early as next week under a gpl/lgpl license.
The first native app which ties the icefaces server push into the apple push notification may be ready as soon as june when the 3.0 os becomes official and our nda expires.
I always said the greatest strength of icefaces is not its components but its api. I have never seen a jsf component api which is so easy and fun to code in.
Again, nice work icefaces.
